What’s the difference between your Everyday Line and Working Line gear?

Our Everyday Line is designed for daily walks, adventures, and casual use. It features vibrant colors, lightweight BioThane, and hardware built for reliability and style.
Our Working Line is engineered for high-intensity environments such as police, military, or sport work. It uses heavier-duty BioThane, heavy duty aluminum and stainless steel hardware, and reinforced construction for maximum strength and control.

What is BioThane, and why do you use it?

BioThane is a strong, waterproof, and easy-to-clean material made from a polyester core with a protective coating. It offers the flexibility and comfort of leather without the maintenance, plus it won’t absorb odors or dirt.
We use BioThane because it performs in any weather, lasts for years, and can handle the demands of working and active dogs.

How do I choose the right collar size for my dog?

To measure your dog:

  1. Use a soft measuring tape around the middle of their neck.

  2. Add 1–2 inches for comfort.

  3. Match this measurement to our size chart.

If your dog is between sizes, we recommend sizing up. You can also contact us with your measurements and we’ll guide you to the perfect fit.

How strong is your gear?

Our BioThane has a break strength of 1,000 lbs, and our stainless steel or aluminum hardware is rated to withstand working dog demands. Each collar and leash is hand-assembled and riveted for durability.
While no gear is indestructible, SOL K9 products are designed to withstand real-world use by high-drive, strong dogs.

Do you offer custom gear?

Yes! We can customize length, width, color combinations, and hardware finishes. You can order through our Custom Build section or contact us directly for unique requests.

Is your gear waterproof?

Yes, all SOL K9 BioThane gear is 100% waterproof and will not absorb odors or bacteria. Simply wipe it down with a damp cloth to clean.

What hardware options do you offer?

We offer stainless steel (maximum corrosion resistance), aluminum (lightweight & strong), and black-coated hardware (stylish finish). The best option depends on your dog’s needs and environment, stainless is ideal for heavy-duty or wet conditions.

How long will my gear last?

With proper use and care, SOL K9 gear can last for years. Inspect your equipment regularly for wear and tear, especially if your dog works in high-stress environments.

What’s your return/exchange policy?

Unworn, unused gear can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery. Custom gear is final sale unless there’s a defect. Please contact us before sending any items back.

Trainer’s Tips – Choosing the Right Gear for Your Dog

Which leash length should I choose?

  • 6 ft – The most versatile everyday length for walks, training, and general use.

  • 8 ft – Great for more freedom, sniffing, or distance training while still on-leash.
    For working dogs, sport dogs, or off-duty time, you might want multiple lengths depending on the activity.

 Which collar width is right for my dog?

  • 3/4" – Lightweight for smaller dogs or handlers who prefer minimal bulk.

  • 1" – Ideal for medium to large breeds; balances comfort and strength.

  • 1.5" – Distributes pressure more evenly, great for strong pullers or high-drive working dogs.
    Choosing the right width can reduce rubbing and make training more effective.

My dog is a puller — which setup works best?

If your dog tends to pull hard:

  • Pair a wider collar with a sturdy, shorter leash (4–6 ft) for better control.

  • Use stainless hardware for maximum strength.

  • For training, consider a leash with a handle close to the clip (traffic handle) for quick control in high-distraction situations.

I have a high-drive working dog — should I get Everyday or Working Line?

If your dog works in bite sports, protection, detection, or police/military environments, the Working Line is your best choice. It’s built for constant tension, lunges, and quick, high-stress handling.
For casual walks and off-duty adventures, the Everyday Line is perfect you can even mix and match.

My dog swims or plays in all weather — will your gear hold up?

Absolutely. BioThane is 100% waterproof, and stainless steel hardware is corrosion-resistant. If you’re in wet or coastal areas, we recommend stainless hardware to prevent rust over time.
